Anything without a nick or a cut. Until you get better control, odds are you’ll lose more than a few golf balls. Buy some cheap new or used golf balls and use the money you would have paid for top-brand balls to get lessons, buckets at the range, or a round of golf.
If you’re in the lower 48 states, the best place to buy golf balls is Rock Bottom Golf. They have a good selection of used balls as well as a special section of new balls for under $10/dozen. With a free shipping coupon you’ll end up saving quite a bit.
Best of luck!
any golf ball. a high handicapper shouldn’t even be thinking about what type of golf ball to use unless he has his swing down pact. how much sense is it going to make when you get the right balls to use on a course only to hit them in the water or lose them to the trees?
Anything you can find. Don’t buy balls until you break 100. Til then, use wooden or used ones/
Golf balls are personal. What one person likes, another may not. I recomend the Top Flight D2 series (13.99-15.99 for 15 balls). Cheep, good feel, rather soft. Feels like you are playing with an expensive ball, when in fact, they are among the cheapest you can find.
The Titelist DT Carrys are also pretty nice (19.99 for 12). As are the Top Flight Gamers (19.99 for 15.)
Range Balls, $5 for a bucket!
These tips are good but as you improve you may consider getting your swing analyzed and getting fitted clubs. If you do this they can also make recommendations to you for golf balls to suit you.
Just like anything else there are economy priced balls, mid priced, and then the expensive ones the big boys use. You don’t want to pay the price for those just to lose them. Here are a few good priced balls that aren’t junk.
Nike Power Distance Soft
Wilson Staff Fifty Golf Balls
Callaway Warbird Golf Balls
These are a few under $20, there are also recycled balls you can get 60 for under $30.
