What should a woman wear to a golf tournament?

Red asked: I’m going to a golf tournament at a high end country club in the Palm Springs, California area. I expect the weather to be about 110 degrees. Yikes!
I want to be comfortable, but also look polished. Would it be taboo to wear a casual skirt or dress?
