Funds sought for gippsland lakes tourism push
The campaign, which seeks to bring visitors to the Great Gippsland Bays and beaches in south-east Queensland, is the first of its kind.
The campaign will begin by contacting the people who use the beach every day and giving them “how to become a gippsland tourist”.
While they are the ones who put their money there, they are also the ones who earn enough money for basic bills which include accommodation and a trip to the beach.
The funds will go towards covering the cost of getting through to the public about the nature of the public visit and ensuring that those who want to experience the gippsland bays are encouraged to do so.
A website will also be put online.
The Great Gippsland Bays Association has been given $3,000 and the state government $500.
