Hi this is Jeff Crittenden, I am a current teaching pro. I am a PGA member, I just won the 2017 world long drive master’s division, with a 383 yard drive.
So in this video we are going to talk a little about the difference between baseball and golf. I always hear, I play baseball so I am not any good at golf or I play golf so I am not any good at baseball, probably more of the first than the latter. I want to show you some of the similarities between the two, if you’re a good baseball player you can be a good golfer.
In a baseball swing, pitch comes in, you turn back, there is how you start your baseball swing. I stepped, hands are here, I am looking at the ball coming in. I hit the ball out in front of my body. Golf swing I waggle, I turn, I start my swing down. Now here’s my golf swing, there is my baseball swing. See some similarities there? Yes and how the club or the bat works through hitting, between baseball, softball, and golf are very similar.
I have a lot of my students come up here and take baseball swings. If you take a swing this way, that’s what your golf swing should feel like. That relaxed, that loose and free, if your golf swing does not feel like that, then we need to make some changes to your swing. The arms should be relaxed, it should be a swinging motion. If I swing the golf club I am nice and relaxed. I swing the baseball bat I am nice and relaxed. Both swings, I still play both sports, don’t have to many problems hitting a baseball, not as well I would like and don’t have to many problems hitting a golf ball. So just remember the two very relaxed, both are a swinging motion. If you can hit a baseball you can hit a golf ball.
