RELEASING THE GOLF CLUB

RELEASING THE GOLF CLUB

A players release habit is a by-product of the way they bring the club down! If you have a steep club shaft and an outside to in path the ideal release pattern is different from golfers who swing the club from a shallower into out path.
Let’s say we have a neutral grip, this style of grip requires the lead wrist to swivel to square the club face and to prevent any excessive club face rotation occurring. A club traveling on a shallower plane, typically requires a later release which is why golfers can have a tendency to hit the ground before the ball, when they’re first learning to swing from the inside.

It is important to educate the lead wrist in order to create that desired release pattern, allow the back of the left wrist to turn down towards the ground and allow the knuckles on the lead wrist to point towards the ground.
